Obesity

I am beginning to think that the editors at NOLA.com should consult twelve year old boys to determine the likelihood that a news story will devolve into attacks and nastiness to determine if comments should be enabled. For instances, stories about homosexuality or obesity invariably create a gauntlet of ugliness that reminds me of bullying on a middle school bus.

There was a story in Sunday's Times Picayune about a 400 pound woman who lost her job because, she claimed, of her weight. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has taken up the case, despite the fact that the woman has since died, and is suing her former employer under the American with Disabilities Act.

The following comment has been up for more than a day:

So, if this landwhale of gigantic proportions
happens to win this FRIVILOUS lawsuit, that
is a total abuse of the EEOC's powers, are
her heirs gonna get paid by the pound or at
a bulk discount ? ? ?
